Softball Coaches Clinic Roundup -

Bangerz  Sports Eye Protection sales representatives have just finished exhibiting at a variety of coaches clinics and conventions including the NSC “Mary Nutter” Softball Coaches Clinics in Chicago, Minneapolis, and Charlotte; the “Be The Best” Fastpitch Softball Coaches Clinic in Cherry Hill, NJ; the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Clinic in Waco; and the US Lacrosse Convention and National Field Hockey Coaches Convention, both held in Philadelphia.

At the softball coaches clinics we observed an increased interest in Fielder’s Safety Masks.  A few years ago after the national press highlighted the issue of fielders’ protection with articles about players that experienced facial injuries from batted balls; parents, coaches, players, league administrators, and high school and college athletic directors discussed the efficacy of requiring infielders, in particular pitchers, to wear facial protection.  This discussion had waned recently, but this year the debate seems to be front and center in the minds of everyone associated with the game again.

New products have recently been introduced that have been gaining in popularity. Namely, wire fielder’s masks.  These masks provide less obstruction of one’s vision by reducing the size of the bars in front of a player’s eyes.  Yet their increased weight and uncomfortable placement of their permanently attached chin cups have made them unpopular with some players.

The Bangerz HS1800 Sports Safety Mask solves both of these issues.  Its ultra-lightweight design makes it more comfortable to wear.  Its free-floating chin cup sits comfortably under the chin and anchors the mask in place while not ending up covering a player’s mouth like the wire masks chin cups do.
For those players most interested in protecting their nose, eyes and orbital area the HS6500 Wire Fielder’s Mask was an alternative that many coaches see as a compromise for their players that refuse to wear the full face type masks.  Seeing the HS6500 being worn by college players in the 2010 and 2011 Fastpitch College World Series has also helped bring this item into the mainstream.

We will continue to do our part at Bangerz to make sure that player’s eyes are protected while playing the sports they love.
